RE Schell Enterprises was founded in 1971 by Richard “Dick” Edwin Schell, with a vision of becoming a development leader in the Kalamazoo area and building longstanding relationships within the community. With Dick’s eye for opportunity and a dedication to delivering value, RE Schell quickly earned the reputation as a trusted name for commercial real estate needs in the Kalamazoo area.

Today, the business continues to grow under the leadership of Dick’s son, Rick Schell. Building upon his father’s legacy, Rick has continued to push the company forward, sticking to Dick’s mission while adding his own modern perspectives.

With over five decades of experience in the area, RE Schell currently manages a diverse portfolio of nearly 40 properties covering over 48 acres, and spanning 194,274 developed square feet. True to Dick’s mission of delivering value and developing longstanding relationships, the portfolio consists of many tenants who’ve been partners for multiple decades, including one for over 40 years.

Rick Schell


Being born into the business in 1971 when his father began operations, Rick has been involved nearly his whole life. After graduating from MSU with a degree in Supply Chain and a brief stint at an aerospace firm in California, Rick came back in 1996 and worked under his father before officially taking over operations in 2006. Rick shares his father’s vision of developing relationships and creating mutually shared success, enhancing his father’s while creating his own legacy.

Originally from Battle Creek, Brian came to Kalamazoo and completed his BBA in Management from WMU in 2006. After beginning his career in corporate software sales, he began with us in 2017 directly managing all aspects of the business. Rick develops the ideas into projects, and Brian and team execute the goals in alignment with Rick’s vision.

Asst General Manager

Eddie comes from Delton, and attended GVSU before getting his start in retail management.

Eddie’s role includes direct management of our retail operations, and assisting Rick and Brian as the key point of execution on many different projects.

Sara Yeates

Office Manager

Growing up in Paw Paw, after starting her career in customer service, Sara received her accounting degree from KVCC.

Sara began with us in 2013 and keeps the office (and us!) efficiently moving forward in the right direction.

Shaun Martin

Manager of Maintenance Operations

Shaun is a Kalamazoo native and got his start as an electrician in the Navy in 1982. Shaun brings over 40 years of electrical and mechanical knowledge and experience, him and his team are equipped with the ability tackle any issues that may get thrown their way.
